United Nations – International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals

The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals is charged with carrying out a number of essential functions, reflecting best practices in international criminal justice and maintaining legacies of these pioneering ad hoc international criminal courts.
The challenge was to create a storytelling website that would present all the relevant facts of what happened in Srebrenica in July 1995. It should have archival material and videos related to this event, as well as negative points of view.
We wanted to tell this story in a way that would resonate with audiences worldwide, so we chose to present the perspectives of both victims and perpetrators, followed by a selection of archival material. A dynamic timeline illustrates the historical context and gives viewers an overview of the story.

Darker tones, grayscaled images, and accents of red all evoke feelings of despair and sadness about this tragic event.

A special requirement of this project was to integrate an interactive map with different pins with an accurate timelines that had to present different events in time. All of those pins and events had three angles to the story (2 opposite sides as well as a neutral side).
